I love movies.

I know, not that unusual, lots of people love movies. I read an interesting bit of info today though, about the first movies. The Lumiere Brothers had a public show in France in 1895. They astounded the audience with their new moving pictures. They were each only 50 seconds long and only one was fictional. The Sprinkler.

The first movies.

The two most interesting parts to me were the clothes and the father feeding the baby. In one short almost all of them men had the same straw hat on! And my idea of a father in 1895 was not of one feeding their baby. It was very sweet!

Tell me your thoughts!

  1. Hi Cindy, Though I don't have much time for a 2 hour sit, (as shown my my return of your dvd, lol) I also love movies. The older, the better. My genre? Musicals, comedy and horror. Three examples? The wizard of Oz, Godspell, and The Stand. Oh and of course Harry Potter. Amazing the information you have uncovered about the first movies. The length of them could be beneficial for my busy day. Did the Lumiere Brothers ever realize what they stumbled upon?, now, a very important part of all our lives :) Your fan, Ginni

  2. I spent many hours watching old movies on UHF when I was a kid! Love musicals, Gene Kelly! Also comedy, slapstick like the Marx Bros and the old horror such as Frankenstein!
The Lumiere bros certainly realized the importance of cinema as one died in 1948 and one in 1954.
